GRADIENT

B U I L D E R S

A veteran, a student or an engineer who wants to build something useful? Here you get a team, a mentor and a real task from a community. Free, no prior experience needed. The result — a product for communities, the environment, health or reconstruction, and a profession for you.

The model

Three trajectories that sum into one direction

An idea, people and technology resolve into a real product. It is a vector sum — a direction none of them reaches alone.

idea people technology ∇ product

Why it works

Each part covers what the others lack: the idea sets the direction, people bring expertise, time and execution, and technology provides the leverage — what once required an institute is now carried by a team of six.

What we build

Where solutions go

We are not tied to a single technology — nor only to technology. Teams take on problems where they can create real civilian and humanitarian value, and where what is needed is not a program for a computer but a programme of care, we build that instead.

∇

Civilian IT

General-purpose products, services and tools.

∇

For state & society

Solutions for government, communities, recovery and safety.

∇

Humanitarian & recovery

Health, accessibility, environment and community rebuilding.

∇

Next door — SYNTONIA

When what is needed is a person, not a product — free social services and psychological support.

Mission

A through-line mission runs across every programme: reintegrating veterans through real work, opening doors for students and beginners, and bringing Ukraine closer to EU membership.

∇
Mission

Veteran reintegration

Not courses — real roles: veterans become product managers, engineers, analysts and QA in the teams building the products below — gaining a profession and social reintegration.

∇
Mission

A door for students & beginners

A first real team experience even with no portfolio: development, design, analytics or QA under senior mentorship — and projects worth showing.

∇
Mission

European integration

Our products close concrete state needs and bring Ukraine closer to EU membership.

Areas

Four programmes in priority order where our DeepTech stack delivers civilian and humanitarian value — and where we build partnerships with institutional donors.

∇
Priority #1

GreenTech — eco-monitoring

Satellite and AI monitoring of war impact — forests, water, soil; tools for smart energy grids. A way into green-recovery funding, the EU Green Deal and LIFE.

∇
Priority #2

GovTech — state & communities

Local digital services, open data and GIS for communities; transparent-recovery dashboards on DREAM data. Problem: DREAM is mandatory from 2026, yet most communities lack IT capacity.

∇
Priority #3

HealthTech & AssistiveTech

Health, rehabilitation and accessibility: telerehabilitation, digital mental health, prosthetic control, AI assistants and navigation for people with disabilities — aligned with the National Barrier-Free Strategy. Need is scaling into the millions, yet almost no one applies deeptech here.

∇
Priority #4

ReconstructionTech & BuildTech

AI- and satellite-based damage assessment, digital twins of communities, energy-efficiency tools. Tied to DREAM and the damaged-property register; $588bn in recovery needs.

Get involved

Find your role

Whether you are a veteran, a defender, a student, a researcher, a beginner, a senior engineer or a partner — there is a place for you.

Veterans & defenders

Build your own product or switch careers — product/project manager, developer, analyst, QA tester or domain expert. Several of you can take on one project, each in your own role, alongside your own people.

Students & beginners

Your first real team experience — even with no portfolio yet. Development, design, analytics or QA under senior mentorship, a way into DeepTech, GovTech and HealthTech, and projects worth showing.

Mentors

Senior engineers and product leaders — pass on your expertise and lead teams. Flexible volunteering: a few hours a week give the product quality and you impact and community.

Partners & donors

Back the direction with grants, pilots or expertise and gain access to the ecosystem and ready teams. Your contribution becomes not reports but real solutions for Ukraine and the world.

Volunteers

You do not have to be an engineer. Lawyers, accountants, psychologists, media people, drivers, coordinators — we need hands and heads, not only code. Flexible format: from a one-off task to ongoing involvement.

Communities & public bodies

Got a problem with no budget and no contractor? Describe it. We cannot promise to take every one, but this is exactly where our projects come from — and the result stays with you, with you under a perpetual, free licence, with code and documentation.

Leave your email — we will write once, when the first teams start. No newsletters, no sharing with anyone.

Partners

Ecosystem & partnerships

We operate within Ukraine's technology and innovation ecosystem and are open to partnerships — with donors and funds, universities, industry and government institutions.

∇

Donors & funds

Grants and pilots that become real solutions, not reports.

∇

Universities

Students, research and joint educational programmes.

∇

Industry

Mentorship, technology and a path to deployment.

∇

Government

Real needs, pilot grounds, scaling.

∇

Veteran communities

A direct line to the people we build for — and who build with us.

∇

Media

Telling the story of what already works, not of intentions.

For business

Corporate partnership & CSR

We do not sell a logo on a banner. Partnering with us means concrete involvement: your engineers mentor a team, your infrastructure becomes the development environment, your budget covers a programme rather than a line in a report.

  • Mentoring hours from your seniors — the scarcest resource we have
  • Cloud credits, licences, equipment, premises
  • A joint pilot: your problem, our team
  • Hiring our graduates — we produce people, not certificates
  • Named support for a programme, with a public report

FAQ

Frequently asked

Who can join?
Veterans and defenders, students and beginners, senior mentors, and partners and donors. Each role has its own format — from building your own product to mentoring a few hours a week.
Is it volunteering or paid work?
Participation is voluntary: mentoring, team work and learning are free and unpaid. If a specific project gets an approved budget (a grant or a commission), individual roles may be paid under a civil-law contract — agreed in writing and in advance; we make no promises upfront.
How do you protect donor funds and non-profit status?
No distribution of income (Tax Code 133.4), written conflict-of-interest declarations, alignment with FCPA and EU anti-corruption standards, transparent bookkeeping and the option of independent audit. Funds go only to the statutory mission.
Who owns the intellectual property?
Property rights to the results are held by the Organisation (Section 8 of the Statute) — donors require this and it protects the shared work. The community or client receives a perpetual, free licence to use the solution, the documentation and the code (open where possible), so the solution stays with you — with no hidden fees. Commercialisation goes through licensing to spin-offs, without the organisation taking equity.
How is this different from a usual incubator?
We are a venture builder, not a classic incubator: we do not mentor from the sidelines, we assemble teams and build products ourselves. We combine three parts that fall short alone: veterans' experience, students' energy and technology as the lever — in a non-profit model where success is measured in solutions for Ukraine, not equity.
Do you only do technology?
GRADIENT BUILDERS does. But we are part of NGO Gradient, whose second programme, SYNTONIA, provides free social services and mental health support for veterans and families.
